Maruti Suzuki A-Star has been making news since its launch has been announced due to the all new KB series engine in used in it. The A-Star is the first car from Maruti Suzuki which is mounted with this new breed of engine. It is an highly advanced engine that is designed to meet the fuel efficiency and environmental needs
The engine is very kinder to the environment and also satisfies the European norms of emission. However, in India the engine satisfies the present BS-III norms of emission. This new technology engine is being developed under an investment plan of Rs 1200 crore by Maruti in collaboration with Suzuki Motor Corporation. KB Series is a result of an enormous amount of research & development, validation and testing. This is a very advanced and a bold step taken by Maruti Suzuki to offer its customer the most upfront and upbeat car technology.
The KB series provides an excellent performance, minimize friction and provides zipper acceleration. This engine fitted in A-Star offers a power of 67ps @ 6200 rpm and torque of 90nm @ 3500 rpm. Since it also provides a flat torque the car is also easy to handle in the slow moving urban traffic conditions. The engine has successfully undergone 250,000 km of endurance testing and over 500 hours of engine calibration and 7,500 hours of engine validation on dynamometer. The KB Series engine would also be used in other cars of Maruti Suzuki as well.
The A-Star fitted with 998cc K-Series engine delivers a fuel efficiency of 19Kmpl. It is a compact car combined with sporty looks along with the aerodynamic styling. The car comes with an economical price range which suits the pocket of price conscious Indian customers. It is available in three manual variants and one Automatic Variant.
