Maruti Suzuki A-Star: An International Car!

Maruti Suzuki launched A-Star, a global car at the New Delhi Auto Expo 2008. Maruti Suzuki A-Star is a global car because it will be sold throughout the world however it would be manufactured in India only. The car has already made its international debut in Paris and in London. Not only has this, but the A-Star has also an achieved global standing. Its units are being exported to Europe and it matches the European taste and style. It even satisfies the European norms of emission and is very kinder to the environment. The car is being sold as Suzuki Alto in Europe and has already become a major hit across the continent.

The A-Star is powered by 1.0 litter’s engine and churns out a maximum power of 67ps at the rate of 6700rpm and a torque of 90Nm at the rate of 3200rpm. It delivers a high fuel efficiency of 19Kmpl which is much required in the times of economic meltdown. For the Indian market the car comes within a reasonable range. It has three manual variants namely Vxi, Lxi and Zxi and one automatic variant Vxi AT. The price and the features depend on variants. Overall the car looks great with big headlamps, taillights and the ‘bug’ look that it has been given. The car even has some very advanced features to offer like tachometer which is not common in this segment of car. It comes with driver adjustable seats to offer full comfort on long driving.

The A-Star also works well on Indian roads since it has a shorter wheelbase, compact dimension, minimum turning radius and high ground clearance. For efficient handling it incorporates speed sensitive power steering. The other salient features of the car are Dual Air Bags, Standard AC and ABS with Break Assist. The Maruti A-Star also offers a superb pickup.
